Landscape architects have a duty to promote good design and specialise in improving connections between people and places. In order to do this we’ve developed a range of visualisation processes which are accessible and affordable.
Our e-design services allow us to provide attentive and original visualisations which will provide you with inspiration as you start to think about realising the potential of your outdoor space. We’ve also developed a streamlined information exchange process which reduces typical timescales and costs significantly. We do all this without site visits and for one simple fee.
our vision packages
The main feature of our vision packages is our unique vision board. This presentation document includes a vision statement outlining how we’ve fused your desires for the space with our own knowledge and ideas. You’ll be guided through a storyboard of stylishly rendered views of your reimagined space. We’ll also provide a scaled layout drawing for on site verification, as well as some carefully suggested materials and plants you might consider to achieve the ideal outcome for your space.
If you purchase one of our vision packages, you’ll receive a digital version of your vision board, as well as a separate scaled layout drawing file. You will also receive hard copies of the vision board and layout drawing by post, as well as a scaled ruler to help you verify your vision on site. We also offer a package which includes interim consultation, allowing for ongoing verification of our remotely prepared vision.

e-design FAQs

Did you know that many landscape architects spend half of their lives on the road?
Our small team of qualified landscape architects and designers work from remote locations, creating affordable and intelligent landscape designs for clients around the world.
Whether you intend to craft your ideal outdoor space in your own time or employ a contractor to undertake the work for you, our designs can provide you with the inspiration you need to get the process started.
How do we achieve this? Our designs respond to the information which you provide us with in a streamlined content submission, which will require about one hour of your time. As designers we then filter this information – your desires for your space in combination with physical information – and provide you with a high-quality vision for your space.
From this point you can take the design and use it in any way you please. You can engage with contractors who can verify your vision on site and offer a way forward, or you can chip away at it yourselves over time once you’ve built up the skills and confidence to implement your own version of your vision. All our vision packages are scaled to provide you with approximate areas and quantities required for on site verification.
Landscape designs always need to be verified on site, whether the designer has been to the site repeatedly during the design process, or not. Using our skill and experience as designers, we seek to avoid potential pitfalls and limit discrepancies by building in flexibility so that the essence of our visionsendure theon siteverification process.
Our design process is ideal for anyone who is daunted by the associated costs with realising your ideal outdoor space. Our processes are particularly suitable for new build property owners. Or maybe you’ve decided, like us, to use space in your garden to live and work in, and you need to accommodate a building into your outdoor space. Our clients tell us that the small outlay of our e-design fee saved them from wasting large sums of money on unsuitable ideas.
Our visions also make great gift ideas for someone you know who is desperate to get going with their outdoor space. Whatever your circumstances are, why not drop us an email to check if e-design might be a good way to proceed?

There are many circumstances and sites where the remote design process is particularly suitable to employ.
Straightforward sites with simple levels and few underlying issues, for example new build gardens or terraced house gardens (new or old) often make ideal sites for e-design. These sites can be easy for you to measure and relay to us in a quick and efficient information exchange.
Design stage projects, including new build houses, extensions or specialist architectural projects are ideal scenarios in which to develop a remote landscape concept. It doesn’t matter if your site is greenfield or brownfield; the creation of a landscape vision which can be used to inform subsequent development is highly advisable. A landscape-led design can benefit your development immeasurably, particularly in the early stages of design, where the use of the remote design process is just as effective as a traditional process.
Community projects at the feasibility stage with limited funding resources are ideally placed to benefit from an e-design process. We can provide you with a high quality visualisation which can be taken forward to use to acquire more extensive development funding.

Whilst there are immediate benefits within the e-design process for you as the client, it is first important for you to consider whether this is the right option for you and your space.
There are a range of site characteristics which the remote process may or may not lend itself to. These include:
Level issues - if your site includes multiple level changes, or severe changes of level which require the creation of retaining structures, or significant re-contouring of earth, then we would advise going for a conventional design process rather than a remote option. In this scenario, site visits really would be necessary, as well as the establishment of a professional survey of the site. If retaining structures over a metre in height are required, this may also need the input of a civil/structural engineer.
Drainage issues - if your site has a history of flooding or waterlogging, it would be advisable to go for a conventional design process. In this scenario, a designer would need to visit the site in order to make an assessment of the overall site and surrounding area in order to establish the most appropriate solution to the drainage issue.
Conservation issues - if your property or site lies within a conservation area, has significant heritage value, or contains trees covered by preservation orders, then a traditional design process may be advisable in order to avoid taking design decisions which are in conflict with established orders or designations.
If you’re site has any such issues and you would like our opinion as to whether a remote design process is suitable or not, please contact us by email with a brief description of your site, and some photographs of the issue or area of the site in question:

Whilst there are significant reductions in cost and timescales offered by the e-design process, it is also important to be aware of what this process does not offer.
Without visiting a site we cannot guarantee that the vision we provide is 100% implementable. Therefore the visions we provide as part of this process are intended to be used for inspiration only. All of the literature in our products and terms of service reflects this reality, and it is important that you understand this before proceeding.
We won’t be able to be on site to collaborate with you or any appointed contractors, therefore any relationship you establish with any other service provider is between you and will not involve srg landscape architects.
If you’re planning on trying to implement one of our visions on your own, we will bear this in mind during the preparation of your vision. However we would not advise attempting this until you had fully researched and immersed yourself the skills you need to do this.
There are still a huge amount of benefits to using this process if you think it is right for you and your space. If you’re interested but would like to incorporate some verification of the vision during its development, then we would recommend purchasing our Works Vision Package which includes two interim consultations. If you have a question you’d like answered before diving in, please drop us an email:

Every vision board we prepare is carefully composed, drawing on our experience interpreting a variety of sites and scenarios over many years. We work hard to avoid visualising impractical ideas. But at the same time, we don’t leave our clients high and dry.
Our e-design model is designed to work efficiently and without time consuming degrees of communication, however if at any time in the future you feel you need an assist in order to progress, we’re happy to discuss helping in some way.
